Where every session begins

Every time you open the app, it asks you one simple question first: start something new, or keep working on something you already started? That's all the Welcome screen is — a friendly front door.

Tell it how big and how fast

Think of it like ordering a TV screen: how wide, how tall, and how many pictures per second.

Your project's own toy box

As soon as you create a project, the app builds it a real folder on disk with little drawers already labeled: Meshes, Images, Videos, Audio, Code.

1 pixel = 1 world unit

In most 3D software, 'how big is 1 unit' is a mystery you have to guess at.

Four ways to look at the same thing

Flip a switch and instead of one view, you get four at once: the real camera shot, plus a view from straight above, straight below, and the side.

A picture-perfect frame, with safety lines

The camera pane doesn't stretch to fill the window — it shrinks to exactly the shape of your real output, like a little TV inside the editor.

The toy shelf

Every kind of thing you can put in a scene — shapes, text, lights, cameras, pictures, sounds — lives on one shelf of buttons.

The family tree of your scene

Every object you've added shows up here as a row, like a class list.

The control panel for whatever you clicked

Select something anywhere — Hierarchy, viewport, doesn't matter — and the Inspector fills up with every knob that object has: where it sits, how it looks, what it does.

Instead of only typing numbers, you can click an object right in the viewport and drag colored arrows, rings, or handles to move, spin, or resize it — like moving furniture with your hand instead of a tape measure.

Getting around without getting lost

Hold Ctrl and scroll to zoom in exactly toward wherever your mouse is pointing — like zooming into a map app — instead of the whole view sliding around underneath you.

See-through means checkerboard

When part of your picture is transparent — nothing there yet — the editor shows a checkerboard pattern, exactly like Photoshop.

Basic building blocks

Cube, Sphere, Cone, Cylinder, Pyramid, Torus — the basic 3D LEGO bricks every scene starts from.

Words that move themselves

Add a title, pick a font, and you're done — or turn on a live Clock that always shows the real time, a Typewriter that types itself out letter by letter, or a Ticker that scrolls like a news headline.

Drop in a picture

Pick a picture file off your computer and it appears in the scene, sized to its own real pixel dimensions — no guessing, no stretching.

Green screen, for real

Play a video, and if it was shot in front of a green (or any color) screen, flip on Chroma Key and that color disappears — like a real TV weather forecast — leaving just the person or subject.

Sound that just plays

Add an audio object and it starts playing right away — set its volume and whether it loops, and that's it.

Rubber-band things together

Select a bunch of objects and bundle them into a Group.

Flat rectangles and ellipses

Sometimes you just need a plain flat color panel — like a title-card background — not a full 3D shape.

A stencil, or a dimmer switch

A Mask hides or reveals everything drawn after it in the list.

Where the light comes from

Lights work like real stage lights: a Directional light is like the sun, a Point light is like a bare bulb, a Spot light is like a flashlight beam.

The lens that broadcasts, and its scout

The real Camera is the one whose view actually goes out on air.

The wall behind everything

A Background is a solid color that always sits at the very back of the scene, behind every other object no matter what order you add things in — like painting the wall before you bring in the furniture.

A filter over the whole picture

An Effect object is like an Instagram filter for your entire shot — blur, vignette, or color correction — applied over everything, and you can dial its strength up and down over time.

Put another app's window in the scene

Grab the live picture from another open application window on your computer and pin it onto an object in the scene — like a picture-in-picture, but from anything running on your desktop, not just a video file.

Bring in a real 3D model from Blender

Already made a 3D character or prop in Blender? Import the .blend file directly — the app quietly converts it behind the scenes and brings in its shape, materials, and even its animation and skeleton.

Stack pictures like paint layers

A Material is a stack of picture layers on top of an object — an image, then a video, blended together — exactly like layers in a photo-editing app, just wrapped onto a 3D shape instead of a flat canvas.

Different wrapping paper per side

A Cube has 6 sides — you can wrap each one in different wrapping paper.

A gray dimmer instead of a hard cutout

Give a Mask a real picture instead of leaving it plain, and instead of a hard on/off cutout it becomes a graduated dimmer switch: white parts of the picture reveal fully, black parts hide fully, and gray parts fade smoothly in between — just like a real broadcast matte.

The paint-mixing station

For deeper editing, or to save a look you like so you can reuse it on other objects later, the Material Editor opens as its own window — the same controls as the Inspector's Material tab, plus a save/load library.

A recipe of when things happen

The Timeline is a recipe card: at second 1, be here; at second 3, be over there.

Loop forever, no keyframes needed

Instead of placing dozens of keyframes for a spinning logo, just tell the clip 'keep spinning forever' — pick a wave shape (steady loop, ping-pong wobble, etc.) and how big/how fast, and it repeats on its own.

One object, many copies, for free

Turn on Array on any object and it instantly becomes a whole grid, row, or circle of copies — move the original and the whole arrangement moves together, like it was always secretly a stamp making many prints.

Make fast things look fast

Real cameras smear fast-moving things a little bit — without that smear, motion can look choppy and fake.

One clip that secretly controls many

Bundle several animated objects together and the Timeline collapses them into a single clip — double-click it and you 'step inside' to see and edit the individual pieces, then step back out to the big picture.

The outgoing TV-station feed

A Channel is one outgoing broadcast feed — it sends out two pictures at once: the actual Fill (what it looks like) and the Key (a black-and-white map of what's see-through), which is exactly how real broadcast graphics let a picture overlay cleanly on top of a live camera shot.

Stack scenes like a cake

One output channel isn't limited to one scene — you can stack several scenes on different numbered layers, and they composite together bottom-to-top, just like layers in a cake or in Photoshop.

Keeping every picture in step

Every viewport pane and every live broadcast channel ticks to the exact same shared clock, at your project's real frame rate — so nothing drifts out of sync with anything else, like a marching band all stepping to the same drumbeat.

A window that IS the broadcast

The Virtual Output window shows exactly what that channel is really sending out — not a mockup, the real thing — so you can watch your broadcast live right on your own screen.

Smoother edges, if the GPU can afford it

Jagged staircase edges on angled lines happen because a pixel can only be one color — MSAA takes several samples per pixel and blends them, smoothing those edges out, like sanding down rough wood.

Push the button, it's live

The Sequencer is the run-sheet for a live show: pick a scene, hit TAKE and it goes out live immediately; hit CLEAR and it goes dark.

Organize your rundown

A long show has a lot of rows — fold related ones into collapsible groups (even groups inside groups), give rows a color to spot them at a glance, and drag-and-drop to reorder anything, anywhere, even between different queue columns.

Up to 4 shows at once

One rundown not enough? Add more columns — up to four independent playout queues side by side, each with its own TAKE/CLEAR, so you can run several outputs' worth of show at the same time.

Same scene, different words every time

Mark certain fields of a scene as Publishable (like a name-plate's text), and every Sequencer row can override just those fields — same scene design, different content each time you take it, without duplicating the whole scene.

Your library of ready-to-air scenes

Every scene you build gets saved as a named entry in a library — rename it, copy it, delete it, and drag it straight into the Sequencer whenever you want to put it on air.

Never lose your work

Ctrl+S saves your whole project to a real file on disk.

Tune the engine to your machine

Preferences is the settings drawer for the app itself, not any one project — things like how much video the app is allowed to keep in memory, or how smooth edges should look, tuned once for whatever computer you're running on.
